All Kinds Of Awkward Cast
Hewitt, Power, C Woolsey, Nuttall, Nicholls, Levy & L Woolsey
Initially Tobias Nicholls was simply going to write a play and then leave it to Liam Mandy to direct. Liam decided to step away from the project so Tobias returned to direct, again putting himself into the play. The only cast change was the part of Tammy, which was written for Alexandra Woods from Persona. Woods had to leave before rehearsals started, and Amy Power joined the group.
The story begins with a nice romantic evening with Sam and Tammy. They have had a good night and are now back at her place. Sam is making his advances but she hesitates and questions if she is just 'one of many' - is he going through the office girls? He assures her that he's not - he just really likes her. They go in for a kiss just as Chester barges in. He's ranting about a cancelled conference, while the pair stand stunned. Chester rushes off to the kitchen and Sam asks who the guy is... Tammy replying with "My husband". With no idea that Tammy was married, Sam is eager to leave, more so when Chester starts questioning what Sam is doing with his wife. Sam makes his quick exit. Chester is about to have a go at Tammy when she stops him and states that HE has ruined HER night.
Elsewhere, on another date, the towel-attired Daniel is awaiting Maxine's return from the shower. They are playing around, Maxine pointing out that they are both just wearing towels. They go in for a kiss as Verity, Maxine's sister, appears and gets in the way. Verity and Maxine argue. Verity lets slip that Maxine has been with quite a few - the best of whom was Sammy. Verity makes advances on Daniel when Maxine is in the kitchen, and when he isn't interested she implies that Maxine and Verity 'shared' Sammy. This freaks Daniel out a bit, but Maxine tells him not to worry. She gets rid of her sister, so that they can get on with things. The pair head off to her bedroom. Verity shortly returns, now on the phone to (presumably Sammy) as Tammy bursts in, looking for Maxine. Verity gestures through to the bedroom, and Tammy rushes off... reappearing very quickly, having seen the pair completely unclothed. She explains to the girls that Chester kicked her out, so could she stay with them? Maxine and Tammy go for some ice cream. Daniel is upset because he can't find his clothes and Maxine's door is locked. They argue as Sam appears, wanting to talk to Maxine. Daniel squares up, unsure of Sam, knowing his past with the sisters. Sam isn't fussed, and just wants to see Max... but didn't know Tammy was there, so leaves. Daniel goes off for a shower, just before Sam returns wanting to know why Tammy is there. Both Maxine and Tammy catch him and he tries to leave, but Maxine wants to be a good friend so goes for a walk with him. Much to the annoyance of Daniel, who's back from his shower (having been spied on by Verity). Daniel, unnerved by the attention he's getting from both Verity and Tammy, wants to get dressed but can't get into Maxine's room. As he searches for a key, Tammy discovers it's down Verity's top. She's done that so he can 'find it'. Tammy likes this idea, and pretends to Daniel it's down her top... and he goes looking for it. Just as Chester shows up, looking for Tammy. Daniel and Verity make an uncomfortable exit as the married couple shout out about their problems... until it becomes apparent that Chester only married Tammy to hide the fact he's gay from his parents. This is overheard by Michelle, who has let herself in. She launches something of an attack on the pair before heading to the kitchen. Daniel emerges, now dressed in women's clothing as it's all he could find. Michelle takes the mickey out of him, and Verity acts very strangely towards her. It becomes apparent that Michelle Sampson is Sammy. Not Sam... and as Sam and Maxine re-enter, Daniel collapses as he realises Sammy, Verity and Maxine have had 'encounters'. Meanwhile, Tammy and Chester start fighting, which Maxine has to break up.
Maxine decides it's time to go to the bedroom and wait for Daniel. Sam tries unsuccessfully to hit on Michelle, who leaves due to boredom. Sam admits he has a been keeping a checklist of women he sleeps with. Michelle is now a target. He also leaves. Chester questions if Daniel will be visiting Maxine, but he doesn't seem fussed. He wants a change. Chester misreads the signal and makes a pass at him. Caught by Verity. She doesn't, for some reason, believe that Chester is gay so decides to prove to him otherwise. Tammy, who has been eating ice cream in the kitchen, returns and decides to make another pass at Daniel. They are about to kiss as she stops him. She announces that she is pregnant, with no idea who the father is. And asks... "Is this going to be awkward"?
