Prologue: Adam and Melissa are watching television, very much in love. Adam had even bought her a present. Melissa seems very happy. He refers to her as his 'butterfly girl'. She asks him to explain what that means. He explains... as another girl enters behind him. Jenny... his fiance. The pair know that he's been cheating on the both. Melissa slaps him twice and leaves. Jenny seems fine... at first...
Main story: One year on...
Adam is hanging out with his best friend Chloe and flatmates Vicky and Alex (who Adam has a crush on). Adam and Chloe discuss television and time travel, much to Vicky's annoyance - she's trying to get work done! Vicky goes to bed. Chloe frets that her ex boyfriend is coming around to collect his stuff, and asks Adam how he coped and he states he didnt get his stuff back, Jenny destroyed all of it. There's a knock on the door and Kevin appears. He's shy and very quiet. He's there to ask Vicky out... Chloe gets her, but Vicky is annoyed - Kevin is her stalker and isn't allowed near her. She lies and says that she has a boyfriend - and when Kevin asks who she says Adam. Upset, Kevin leaves and Vicky goes back to bed.
Chloe gets a call stating that her ex Jeremy can't make it, and he's sending his new girlfriend round to get his stuff instead. She panics and asks Adam to pretend to be her boyfriend. He refuses but has the brainwave to go out and find her one off the street. He does and a minute later returns with Eric Lamb, an odd little man who has agreed to the task. Chloe isn't sure and goes and gets him changed.
Meanwhile, Kevin returns and meets Alex and offers her money to seduce Adam, believing that with Adam out of the way he will have a shot at Vicky. Alex agrees and Kevin disappears again. Adam appears and Alex flirts with him... eventually kissing him. Adam is over the moon and the pair head off to the bedroom.
Jeremy's new girlfriend turns up and it turns out to be Jenny, Adam's ex. Chloe is surprised but still introduces her to Eric. Jenny doesn't believe for a second that they're together and also sights that she always thought Adam and Chloe would get together. This seems to hit a nerve with Chloe who starts drinking and Jenny leaves.
Kevin returns, now dressed as a superhero - 'The Stalker' - he has come to challenge Adam to a duel. Adam emerges, handcuffed to Alex - something else that fuels Chloe to drink. Chloe, in an attempt to make Adam jealous, kisses Kevin, much to everyone's surprise. Eric wants to know if he's still wanted, but seems a little upset when Adam tells him no. Eric leaves, as does Kevin, not without revealing to Adam that he was paying Alex to flirt with him. Adam is upset, telling her he thought she was his butterfly girl, and uncuffs them. Alex goes, apologetically, to her bedroom. Kevin returns hitting Adam on the head with a lightsabre. Vicky returns to see what the commotion is about - and takes a shine to The Stalker, not realising its Kevin. She gives him her number and leaves. Adam asks if he'll ring - but Kevin isn't keen now, he's got crime to fight with his new sidekick. Eric enters now dressed as a superhero. The pair then go off to fight danger,
Chloe asks Adam why she has never been one of his butterfly girls. He explains they she is his best friend and it wouldn't work if they got together, because if they broke up, who would they turn to? Adam leaves a drunk Chloe to contemplate this...
