Phoenix demands that T'lana the witch returns his Princess back to her. She says she doesn't have her - but knows where she is, and will only tell him where she is if he does something for a her... bring her the head of Samwood J. Clink...
Azul runs through a forest, chased by the feral Rune - who is scared off by Eclipse the pixie. Eclipse is fascinated that Azul has blue skin... something he is touchy about and doesn't like being referred to as a smurf. Eclipse is happy that he has chocolate, something she's never encountered before. She says that she could make him normal with some magic potions and goes back to her hut to get them. A village girl, Gypsy, turns up and is surprised to find Azul. He explains that he's waiting for a pixie... Gypsy doesn't believe him. Suddenly they are attacked by Rune again, but the beast's moves are countered by Phoenix who wounds him. He is very wary of Azul, the pair taking an instant dislike to each other but then Phoenix does refer to Azul as Gypsy's pet. Phoenix explains that he must find and kill Samwood J. Clink in order to find Princess Sapphire ,as he was the one who lost her - something Gypsy tells him off for. Eclipse then returns with 3 magic potions. She explains that one gives super strength, one gives super speed and one the ability to body swap to the nearest person. Or one could be poison. She goes to find her crystal ball, and the others test the potions. The first turns out to be orange juice. The second poison (Eclipse returns just to stop Gypsy from taking a sip) and the third the bodyswapping potion. With a cheeky smile Phoenix tests it, swapping with Gypsy and offering both Azul and Eclipse a feel of her breasts. Gypsy, somewhat annoyed makes them swap back. Eclipse now has her cyrstal ball but claims not to know what it does. Phoenix asks for weapons, and Eclipse says she has some back at the hut. She leaves to get them, Azul going with her. Gypsy has a go at Phoenix for the way he behaved, and it appears she has a crush on him. He states he likes her too... just as Rune returns for revenge. Phoenix and Rune fight but Rune gets the upper hand and kills Phoenix. Eclipse and Azul return to witness the scene. Gypsy is distraught and Eclipse tells her to shake the crystal ball. She does and T'lana appears. She brings Phoenix back to life, but Phoenix seems like a zombie, doesn't react to Gypsy and just walks off. T'lana explains that she now has Phoenix's soul. Gypsy runs off. She also explains that she is the reason that Rune is the way he is - he is Eclipse's brother, once a pixie himself. She exits. Azul and Eclipse discuss that revelation and that Azul is in fact... Samwood J. Clink.
Gypsy has overheard all this and attacks Eclipse, who runs away. She then tells Azul that they will take on the witch together. Azul shakes the crystal ball and summons T'lana. The witch recognises Azul, much to Gypsy's surprise as her former lover. She replaced his heart with a lump of ice, which is why he's blue. She summons Phoenix, now her minion, to kill him. As Phoenix attacks Azul, Gypsy drinks the bodyswap potion and swaps with T'lana and goes to attack her, but T'lana (now in Gypsy's body) explains that magic is linked to the soul, not the body. She swaps them back, but during this change Eclipse returns, she grabs the potion and swaps bodies with T'Lana, using her pixie magic to kill the witch, now in Eclipse's body.
With the Witch now dead, Phoenix returns to normal. The group look down at Eclipse's lifeless body. Eclipse, now in T'Lana's body, says she wants to paint her castle pink and goes off to be a good witch. Phoenix says that he still needs to rescue Princess Sapphire. Azul, now content being blue, offers to take them to her... but it's going to be tough, involving vampires and firebreathing dragons. Gypsy thinks it will be an adventure, Phoenix agrees. They hand out Eclipse's weapons - Azul taking a dagger, Gypsy a bow, and Phoenix a lightsabre. Gypsy gives him a kiss before Azul leads them to the Princess. As they disappear, Rune appears and uses the crystal ball to summon T'lana... Eclipse's body spring back to life...
'Pixie Dust' was Tobias' answer to The Lord Of The Rings, his fantasy to have a break from sitcom but keep his style - a success to all accounts, albeit minus any awards - but six nominations, the most a Purple Dreams prouduction has received!
Originally, there were meant to be seven characters. The witch originally named Gypsy (to be played by Becky Trotter, from Butterfly Girls), with a female minion partner to Rune named Vixen (initially Claire-Marie Brown). Princess Sapphire was also meant to be an active character to be played by Laura Claxton. However, Claxton pulled out and Tobias decided to drop that character and reform the characters to the story that made it to stage - albeit with a different cast. The original cast was slated as: Nicholls (Phoenix), Mandy (Azul), Brown (Gypsy, now a village girl), Craig Woolsey (Rune) with Trotter as T'Lana the renamed witch and Leigh Woolsey as Eclipse. However, problems arose and both Trotter and Miss Woolsey pulled out, eventually being replaced by Jo Manning and Mel Broughton. Manning originally came on board for T'Lana but moved across to Eclipse with ten days before performance, Broughton joining the cast with just a week to get to grips with the role of wicked witch.
